Special Rules Announced for Alain Delon’s Funeral, Where Even Drone Flying is Prohibited

The Star of the Golden Age of French Cinema: Alain Delon
One of the legendary figures of French cinema, Alain Delon, passed away at the age of 88. The health of the famous actor had been deteriorating since he suffered a stroke in 2019. In previous statements, Delon had expressed that he did not want a national memorial ceremony, stating, “I do not want a public funeral ceremony”.
His Last Wish: To Be Buried Next to His DogsDelon died at his home in Douchy, located in central France. The famous actor had expressed his wish to be buried next to his dogs, saying, “I want to be buried with my dogs. I do not care about anything else, I just want to be with them”. Delon also requested that his 10-year-old Belgian Malinois dog Loubo be euthanized and buried alongside him in the village of Douchy in Loiret. However, this request was denied by his children following the backlash from animal rights activists.
Reactions from ActivistsFollowing Delon’s death, activists expressed their concerns regarding the euthanization of Loubo and offered to find a new home for the dog. A spokesperson from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation stated that they had spoken with Delon’s daughter Anouchka Delon and received confirmation that the dog would not be euthanized.
Private Funeral Ceremony
The funeral ceremony will be held on the grounds of Delon’s country house in Douchy at the request of his three children. With special permission from the governor’s office, Delon will be buried in a chapel built on the property he purchased in the 1970s and where he died. This chapel is located in a cemetery on predominantly wooded land, where Delon had buried at least 35 of his pet dogs.
A group of only 40 people has been invited to the ceremony, and attendees have been requested not to take photographs. Participants will be required to place their mobile phones in plastic bags, and photography will be prohibited. Additionally, the governor’s office has banned airplanes and drones from flying over the property.
End of Acting CareerAlain Delon announced in 1999 that he would end his acting career; however, he continued his career by starring in Bertrand Blier’s “Les Acteurs” that same year. He later appeared in several television series. Before retiring in 2022, he appeared in Patrice Leconte’s directed film “The Empty House” alongside Juliette Binoche.
His Last Words and Memories
In an interview with L’Humanite Hebdo magazine in August 2002, Delon stated, “You will never see me old and ugly because either I will leave earlier or I will die”. At the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, he said, “I am sure that if there is something I can be proud of, it is my career”. (Sigorta Haber)
